The Baby Tree

My new book, The Baby Tree (in which a small boy finds out where babies come from) goes out into the world today, May 1st. To celebrate, I am giving away ten prizes! Each winner will receive a packet of Baby Tree Seeds (see packet for planting directions) and a 5x7" signed, archival print of one of the 8 individual babies seen below. (The numbers won't appear on the actual print.) Unlike in real life, you will be able to choose your baby.
Leave a comment with a baby's name to enter. Winners will be drawn randomly at sunset, and announced tomorrow.
Oh and you can buy the book now too!

Penelope Jane was going to be my daughter's name before my square of a husband protested. haha. Instead, I named her after my favorite story: Alice in Wonderland-Alyson (The name won't go to waste. I'm saving PJ's name for a story instead.)

Oddly enough, I also vote for Maya (my daughter)! She's not a baby anymore, but we're getting to that age when we have to explain where babies come from ...

I love all the babies on the prints -- and I appreciate, as I always do -- your choice to include babies of diverse backgrounds. But I like #4 and #8 most. :)

Thank you for the giveaway, and congrats on the book birthday!

Baby #2 looks like an Ines - which is to me the most fabulous baby name around. :) Good luck with the book Sophie, will be ordering it soon.

Love the cover and really looking forward to seeing all the illustrations of the book!
As for a baby's name I think I' d choose Luigi, don't know why I just like the sound of it.

I like Saffron. My baby would've been Saffron, if he'd been a girl. Instead, he's Ares.

I can't possibly pick a baby! And it's a toss up between my two favorite names for a girl -- Madeleine and Miriam. For a boy -- Benjamin. Absolutely LOVE your work!

For a daughter I would give her the name Eleanor; for a son the name Samuel. I love the idea of a baby tree, Sophie. Your one-of-a kind creative illustrations continue to delight your many fans. I look forward to reading this soon; hopefully today when I visit my favorite indie bookstore.

Hi Sophie, It's Wendy! We just moved into a new brownstone and there is a baby named Olive living on the first floor. Another Olive in our lives. And I was once nicknamed Olive. I also love the name Molly, as you know.

I will buying "The Baby Tree" for our school library.

Congrats on your Book! The illustrations are beautiful!

I enjoy the name Lucy, because it's simple and sweet (: and also has such a differing presence in women's history.

I'm noticing a distinct lack of boy baby names… is there a reason for that? Would I be completely off base by picking a couple boy names? Because I actually know a couple little boys with awesome names: Cayden and Gatlin

Beautiful book, Sophie! Can't wait to see it in person. :)

I would be a bad mother if I didn't say Simone, my daughters name, but the name Ramona was on the very short list - for obvious literary reasons.

I'd love to name a daughter Sapphire (from the INGO series), but my husband has nixed that. So I will submit it here!

Yakap for baby number 4. It's the Filipino term for "hug".

Congrats on your new book, Sophie. You've been an inspiration to me as an aspiring illustrator. I've got 3 of your books already, and I'll definitely add The Baby Tree in my collection.
